Late Madam
Leticia Chinyere Chikwendu, Femi Fani-Kayode's mother-in-law, was today
Saturday 21st July 2018, given a befitting burial. The burial took place at
Umuire in Umuahia North local government area of Abia State, Biafraland.
Quite a
great number of Biafrans drawn from Igweocha, Aba, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo amongst
others, converged at the deceased marital compound at Umuire, to condole with
the family of Dr. Femi Fani-Kayode, the erstwhile Aviation Minister of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The
courageous and highly learned legal counsel to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, including other
IPOB dignitaries like the Ebonyi State IPOB Coordinator Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya and
his Enugu State counterpart, Mazi Egbonwodo Ikechukwu were physically present
at the funeral.
Speaking on
behalf of the IPOB, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor stated that Dr. Femi Fani-Kayode,
is not just an in-law but a lover of Biafrans who has consistently stood by
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the entire IPOB family against all sheds of injustice and
in the Biafra restoration struggle. Responding, Dr. Femi Fani-Kayode
emotionally expressed appreciation for the level of love, support and
condolence visit given to him and his bereaved family by the IPOB family in
their moment of grief. He could not hide his feelings of gladness for the
massive and surprise visit, on the occasion of the burial of his deceased
mother-in-law. He promised to continually remain supportive to the IPOB family
in the uncompromising quest for self-determination which is an inalienable
right as enshrined in international laws. His stand with the Indigenous People
of Biafra (IPOB) is not just as an in-law but as a principle born out of his
belief in human dignity, justice and the rule of law.
He
thereafter visited the destroyed residence of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian
army on their murderous invasion on the 14th of September 2017, at Afara-Ukwu
Ibeku, in the company of IPOB family members and the IPOB legal luminary, Barrister
Ifeanyi Ejiofor.
Therefore,
condemned the attack and destructions on the palace of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's
father by the Nigeria army and assured the entire Biafrans and the IPOB that he
will continue to stand with them at all time till justice prevail.
He advised
the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) to remain peaceful and resolute in their
quest for the freedom of Biafra from the contraption called Nigeria because in
the end they must get justice.
The younger
brother to missing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is popularly known as 'fine boy'
expressed his gratitude and happiness over the visit by Kayode and IPOB family,
he made it known to the whole world that only it is only God that will save
Nigeria should anything happen to his elder brother Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Many IPOB
family members who came to see for themselves the level of destruction the
Nigeria army championed in the house of their leader could not hold their
tears.
Meanwhile,
before the commencement of the destruction display to Dr. Femi Fani Kayode, one
minute silent was officially observed for those who lost their lives in the
palace of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu' father following the brutal attack by the Nigeria
army on September 2017.
