Biafrans already knew that Binta Nyako, the woman handling
the case against Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB); and
Director of Radio Biafra and Biafra Television (BTv), came into the case with
lots of baggage. But they chose to be magnanimous, and to give her benefit of
the doubt.
Biafrans hoped she would not be a hopeless case. They have
known of cases in history where unqualified, inconsequential, and low-level
individuals have surprised all to deliver. They therefore gave her the benefit
of doubt, hoping that she would surprise all to do the right thing at the
trial.
Biafrans were reliably informed that she was not qualified
for the position she was occupying as a judge, just as many of her Fulani
kinsmen in top positions in government in Nigeria – both now and in the past –
had not always been qualified. For instance, the people knew that the only paper
she had credit in at the school certificate examination was Arabic. Yet, she
went on to become a judge in Nigeria.
That was the case all over. The current President, Muhammadu
Buhari, the illiterate bloodsucker, who has held many important positions in
the country in spite of his lack of education, has the same history. He was
smuggled into the Army with recommendation letter (instead of the required
school certificate because he had none). Yet, he rose to become a General,
minister of petroleum, governor, and then military head of state. Meanwhile, in
all these years in the military, he did not add anything to his qualification.
As a matter of fact, it had been reported that he failed in every examination
he participated in since then.
So also was even Binta Nyako’s husband, Murtala Nyako. He
also has held many important positions in government in Nigeria, yet he is a
school dropout and a semi-illiterate. Like Buhari, he was not qualified to be
in the Navy because he failed the entrance examination. But he was smuggled
into the Navy after his colleagues – who were successful in the extermination –
had travelled abroad for their commissioning courses. By the time those
colleagues of his came back from their courses abroad, Murtala Nyako and his
fellow failures had been commissioned. They become seniors in the military to
their more successful and qualified colleagues.
Knowing all these, Biafrans hoped that Binta Nyako would
respect herself, especially bearing in mind the baggage she carried as an
unqualified judge; and as one whom her society had been hash to. For instance,
Biafrans were aware that she had been a victim of rape throughout her life,
haven grown in Northern Nigeria. There, children are easily violated through
rape and as child brides by the likes of Buhari, known Northern pedophiles.
Biafrans had thought this reality would make Binta Nyako to
be sober and to respect herself. They chose to ignore her all these while that
she was named to be the one that would handle the case. She was given the benefit
of doubt. Perhaps they did not know that the vicissitudes of her raped life,
rather than make her considerate, would dull her conscience and sensibilities
that she would make herself available for the rape of Nigerian Judiciary.
Well, that is her prerogative, and she will now have to face
the music.
