MIDNIGHT TERRORISM AND KIDNAPPING IN UMELU COMMUNITY IN EDO STATE

The people of Umelu Community in Okah Local Government Area of Edo State can no longer sleep with their eyes closed. There is a high level of terrorism and kidnapping ongoing in the community at dead hours of the nights almost on Monthly basis.

We, the IPOB States Media have been monitoring the situation to ascertain whom the bandits are because the rate it has gotten to, is alarming and especially when there hasn't been any Government intervention.

A reliable source in the Community narrated their ordeals in tears. According to him, they are suspected to be Terrorist Fulani Herdsmen because of their mode of operation. He went further to explain that these Terrorists usually arrive during the day time in masks, welding very sophisticated AK-47 and Hammers announcing to the community that they would be attacking them soon and they always keep to their dates without a challenge. Their route is always through Ikpoba River tract, which is very close to the community.

In a short period of time, they have attacked this community on three different occasions successfully despite reports made to the Police about an intending attack. The Terrorists operates and escape with members of the Community and starts demanding for millions from the poor families as ransom. In each attack, they kidnap two or three persons after breaking down doors, shooting sporadically and molesting the people.

Today, members of the Community are fleeing their homes in fear. The community is getting deserted bit by bit because there is no assurance by the Government to protect them or tackle these bandits. The Security Operatives have never gone for the rescue of the people kidnapped nor even visited the families to enquire about the attacks.

We are calling on the attention of the Edo State Governor and the State Commissioner of Police to take this situation as Emergency before the people of this community are completely chased out from their ancestral land by these bandits. If this terror is not checked at the earliest, they will spread to the other nearby communities causing same mayhem.

This is why we are demanding for a sovereign State of Biafra. A country where the security of lives and properties will be the priority of Government. We must continue to seek for BIAFRA until it is realized.
