The Indigenous People Of Biafra
(IPOB) led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu organised a two days national convention at
Anambra state, to look into the issues surrounding the agitation for
Biafra restoration, at this time when the group is preparing for referendum to ascertain
the stand of the people either for or against the agitation for Biafra exit
from the contraption Nigeria.
The national IPOB organised
convention which took place at Okija in Ihiala local government area of Anambra
state was largely attended by hundreds of thousands of IPOB members and
principal officers from within and across Biafra land.
Mazi George Onyibe the IPOB Africa
representative and the interim Biafra land national coordinator anchored the
program which commenced on Tuesday 21, August 2018 to Thursday 23, August
2018.
The state coordinators of Ebonyi Mazi
Igwe Ogbonnaya, his Enugu state counterpart Mazi Ikechukwu Egbo Nwodo, The Abia
state coordinator Mazi Ikechukwu Onuora, and many other States coordinators,
deputy coordinators, regional coordinators, senatorial district coordinators,
Local government area coordinators including many zonal and unit coordinators
both in Biafra land and beyond were in attendance.
The two days summit and convention of
IPOB at Anambra focused on the best ways of achieving the plans of the group in
the area of referendum condition, which according to Mazi George Onyibe will be
coming up as soon as the needed facilities and equipment are properly put in
place.
The convention had lectures on the
nature of referendum to conduct depending on the season and the environment,
expert in the convention took time to educate the participants on this.
Mazi George Onyibe while delivering
his lecture on the structure of IPOB, analyzed the laid down structures from
the highest command down to family units, their functions and limitations was
equally treated to avoid violation of protocols. He further stated that
"This is important because as we are about to enter into Biafra which is
our last hope, there is a need to prepare ourselves in all ramifications
because we’re special people with lots of expectations by many in the continent
of Africa"
Many participants who spoke with the
media personnel on duty during the convention and summit expressed their joy to
have participated in the wonderful summit. According to Mazi Nmadu ka Nmadu, a
member of IPOB in Aba province and one of the participants in summit, said
"This is a welcomed development, it shows that IPOB worldwide led by
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is determined to restore Biafra despite the plight and all
manner of unspeakable degradations the Nigeria government subjected we Biafrans
into"
On his own side, Mazi Emeka Mbamaram,
one of the senatorial district coordinator in Igweocha, condemned the
continuous incarceration and subjugations meted on Biafrans by the
Nigeria government and her foreign allies, "This is very unfortunate and
unacceptable, it is high time the world rise up to their responsibilities
thereby condemning this barbaric act of injustice by the Nigeria government,
few hours from now it will be one week that our women were held and detained in
Imo state police net, because they came out to protest this injustice and ask
for the way about of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu the supreme leader of IPOB, yet the world
remained silent and maintained unhealthy muteness over this mayhem".
Recall that the supreme leader of
IPOB on the 14 September, 2017 was attacked by the Nigeria army in his father's
palace at Afaraukwu Ibeku in Umuahia Abia state, following operation Python
dance 11 lunched by the Nigeria army to curb the legal activities of
IPOB.
Since after the military attack, Mazi
Nnamdi Kanu and his parents were nowhere to be found, the group has not equally
relented in demanding for the way about of her leader both on media and street
peaceful protest.
Some of the event participants who
also spoke with the media concluded that the only compensation for all the
atrocities committed against Biafrans by the Nigeria government is to pave way
for the total exit of Biafra as a sovereign nation.
