IPOB once again has shown to the whole world that they don't abandon their own even in time of death or difficulties, today been 26th June 2018. IPOB in their vast number stood in court to register their displeasure over the illegal abduction of Igbo serving Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who was arrested by the Department Of State Security (DSS) on 19th June,018. At Transcorp Hotel Abuja. It was gathered that IPOB en mass was present in the court premises on the said date, and engaged in peaceful protest for the release of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, according to information they were chanting "Release Abaribe he is Innocent" they equally echoed "Nigeria Army Where is Nnamdi Kanu and His Parents" and "All We Are Saying Give Us Biafra" etc. Recall that on 23rd June 2018, Abaribe's lawyer Mr Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume (SAN) told reporters in Abuja that the search warrant procured by the DSS to search Abaribe’s Abuja residence on Thursday allowed it to “focus and search for arms and ammunition, Biafra sigmas and any incriminating document, while the alleged crime was aiding, supporting IPOB and it's activities" his lawyer further stated that the search warrant was dated June 2, 2018. Ume said they searched all corners and every item’ in the house lasted from about 5 pm till 11:15 pm Friday. He also said 27 items were taken from his client’s home none of which was a gun or ammunition. His words: “but unfortunately, two of the 27 items include the two handsets of two USA citizens found in the house. Meanwhile on 26th June 2018 Senator Abaribe, the surety to Nnamdi Kanu, appeared in court to answer case over the disappearance of IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, since the Nigeria Army raided his hometown in Afara Ukwu Ibeku Umuahia, Abia State on 14 September 2018, killing more than 22 Unarmed Biafrans youths and abducting others, since then Nnamdi Kanu and his parents have been missing which IPOB strongly believe that Nigeria Army may have abducted them during the invasion by the military last year. According to information obtained by Umuchiukwu Writers correspondent in today's court proceedings, Mr Abaribe was escorted to the court by security operatives, he was not allowed to talk to journalists after the matter. As the court proceeded, the IPOB defence counsel, Mr Ejiofor demanded the release of Enyinnaya Abaribe in the hands of DSS. Mr Ejiofor asked the court to order the federal government to release Mr Abaribe, stating his arrest as illegal and unconstitutional. But in a ruling, Mrs Nyako said she wouldn't give order for the senator’s release because she was not the one who ordered his arrest. The judge stated that the circumstances resulted in Mr Abaribe’s arrest weren't before her. She expressed dissatisfaction with counsel on both sides about their manner of handling the case and told them she would not mind prolonging the matter, if they themselves were not serious about carrying it forward. After Justice Binta Nyako disassociated herself from ordering for Aberibe's arrest, the DSS felt disgraced completely, at that time Abaribe’s lawyers, Chukwuma Ume (SAN) and IPOB Legal Counsel Aloy Ejimakor and Ifeanyi Iboko, as well as the other sureties, were said to come at the DSS office to formally secure his freedom.
Abaribe is being released on DSS administrative bond that requires him to produce any civil servant on the rank of a Director with residence in Abuja. Recall that IPOB led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been in forefront campaigning for the release of Abaribe since his illegal arrest by DSS. In a statement released by Emma Powerful, IPOB Media Secretary Publicity, IPOB stated that the main reason Abaribe was arrested was because of his revelation on the N30 billion which was smuggled into the budget of the Power Ministry without the knowledge of the Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development and Metallurgy, IPOB further call on British to order Nigeria president Muhammadu Buhari to release Abaribe without delay.
However, Abaribe has been released, the DSS should give the world a tangible reason why they arrested Enyinnaya Abaribe in the first place, the world is waiting to hear the meaningless excuses from the Gestapo security outfit called DSS.
