More than five thousand unknown soldiers and security personnel has been deployed to Abakaliki the capital city of Ebonyi State. This is following the anticipated visit of the President of the federal republic of Nigeria Muhammad Buhari to commission the flyover bridge constructed by the State Governor David Nwaeze Umahi.
Citizens of the State residing in the town and those visiting the town for business activities and for other reasons are currently prevented from plying major city roads, especially those that leads from Presco junction down to Sperando junction, Ogoja road to government house axis and Ezza road.
Parents who took their wards to schools during the morning hours of today Tuesday 14, November 2017 have secretly gone back to recall them back from schools, while many schools especially Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools within the urban area has closed for the day as a result of the tension following the siege.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of police and the general army commander in the state, lamented bitterly over the deployment of those unknown soldiers and security personnel, pointing out that the State is not in the state of war so there is no need for that. They equally complained that the deployment is questionable because most of them are not from Nigeria rather from neighbouring countries.
It is on this note that we therefore urge citizens of the state to be vigilante and be mindful of their activities between today Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15, November 2017 which the visit will last and then after because Biafra land is under serious siege.
