The governor of Imo state Owele Rochas Okorocha on Thursday 15th of June 2017 said that what the Igbos needed was the Movement for the Economic Survival of Igbo People (MOESIP) and not any movement for the sovereign state of Biafra. This statement shows that Rochas misunderstands the concept of Biafra.
He is by this statement opposing what both the Indigenous People of Biafra and Biafra stand for. This is quite disappointing especially considering he is a Governor in Biafran soil and was supposed to be speaking in one voice with this blessed land of Heaven.It should be noted that Biafra is larger than Igbo and there is no room for comparison. Biafra is a nation with many tribes and dialects, which Igbo is one.
He also called for the revival of the political relationship between the North and Igbos. This type of mentality is one of the reasons why the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra from time distanced himself from these self-centered leaders from the so-called "South East region".
It is Clear that Rochas is doing this because of his Nigerian based presidential ambition come 2019. Because of this unhealthy ambition he has decided to endanger the lives of the youths and unborn children and determined to sacrifice them to Hausa Fulani whose trade is pathological hatred over the indigenous people of Biafra. If Rochas Okorocha wants to be the Nigerian president, why not go back to the North to Nationalize there and contest for presidency from there than speaking against the will of the entire Biafrans for the sake of selfish interest. This is quite disappointing.
Interestingly, IPOB had earlier declared "No Election" in Biafra land until they give us Biafra, so if Rochas intends to seek votes in Biafra land, such intention would certainly be impossible.
Good enough, Okorocha acknowledged that the indigenous peoples of Biafra are the most law-abiding people in every part of Nigeria. It is expected that he sends this message about Biafrans to those who accuse IPOB members of lawlessness.
