President Buhari's Boko Haram War; A Grand Deception:

If you ask any Buhari supporter to name two achievements of the daura-born ex-soldier since he became president, chances are he would mention corruption and security. But just as the previous article reasonably established the so called anti-graft war as nothing but a sham, this write-up aims to prove that the so called war on terror (boko haram) is a grand deception as no war is being waged on terror.

Let me quickly say this which I believe to be a common knowledge even though most of us who eat, breathe and live political correctness would never publicly voice it out: 

Muhammadu Buhari has never seen the boko haram boys as terrorists. That he has always had a soft spot for the terror group is no secret. That he harbors an uncommon sympathy towards the course of the terror group has never been in dispute.

Remember, he has severally defended the boko haram fighters and described them as victims (not perpetrators) of injustice. He went further to chide the then government of Jonathan for fighting and killing the boko boys rather than offer them amnesty just like the Niger Delta boys. He would later publicly declare that an attack against boko haram was an attack against the North. In what seemed as a recognition of these 'kind gestures', the boko boys later nominated him (Buhari) to represent them in a failed peace talk with the then government of Jonathan.

Please, as I would always say, Charles isn't making up any of these. They all happened within the past 2-3 years here in Nigeria. A simple Google search would confirm them all in case you have forgotten.

Rather than fight the boko haram beasts with all the seriousness it deserves, the Buhari government has engaged in acts any unbiased observer would interpret as geared towards strengthening rather than weakening the Boko Haram terrorists rated as the deadliest terror group in the world by the World Terror Index.

To better understand this, please permit me to take you back to the dying days of former president Jonathan's government. Those few weeks the govt asked that the election earlier slated for February be postponed to enable it use the newly procured Russian-made Weapons to fight boko haram before we could proceed with the general elections, remember?

Military hardware were acquired from Moscow. And with those weapons, we all witnessed Jonathan's government prove that the boko haram terrorists could actually be considerably weakened and rendered almost incapable of organizing or launching any form of attack. We all witnessed as Nigerian soldiers were clearing the Sambisa forest and reclaiming territories previously held by the terrorists. We saw boko haram fighters disguising as women just to escape the superior fire power of the Nigerian military.

In the end, elections were held in the hitherto no-go-areas of the Northeast with very little or no security breach.

Then enter Muhammadu Buhari as president and Commander-In-Chief!

And his very first action was to order that all military checkpoints across the country and even in the Northeast be dismantled with immediate effect. Mr Buhari knew that those checkpoints especially the ones in the Northeast were meant to check the movement of boko haram terrorists and stop them from regrouping but he yet went ahead to dismantle those checkpoints.  I will just leave you guys to determine if that action weakened or strengthened the boko haram terrorists.

The second action he took was to announce through the military that not less than 800 "surrendered" boko haram fighters have been granted amnesty and were undergoing training in different skills acquisition programs. This report was first released by the National Orientation Agency.

This is a terror group responsible for the death of thousands of Nigerians and the displacement of millions. This is a terror group the government told us were responsible for the kidnap of the #ChibokGirls. This is the demonic bastards that cut the throats of school lads in a boarding school in Yobe few years ago. 

These are the same beasts that put the name of Nigeria on the list of countries with suicide bombers. These are the bringers of death that have killed thousands of our soldiers....your soldiers....your fathers and mothers and sons and daughters for no just course. What is worse...They are still killing. As I type this, they have not declared an end to their senseless killings. They still sack communities, leaving death in their trails, soldiers and civilians are still dying in the hands of the terror group.

Yet,

Your president is currently spending billions of your common wealth to feed, cloth and train these bloodsucking vampires while you; the victims of their bloodletting go to bed hungry!

And they lie to you that they surrendered. Really?? Your enemy who refused all your peace overtures and went ahead to inflict heavy pain and casualty on you because of his strong and unshakable belief in the ideology he is fighting for, suddenly, you hear that this neighbor of yours have surrendered and you start singing "kumbaya" as well as bringing out all your food and money to rehabilitate him. All his sins are forgotten and forgiven.

You didn't even pause to ask what happens to the ideology he was fighting for. You didn't ask if he surrendered for altruistic reasons or just because he had no other way of staying alive seeing as you've already closed in on him. 

You are either the dumbest genius or the smartest idiot in the universe, trust me.

For the boko haram terrorists, it is a win-win situation: kill as many of those 'infidels' as you can and when recession hit the economy of your camp, come out and tell the govt you are surrendering and you will be well fed, sheltered and given training after which you can just go back to doing what you know how best to do; which is killing. Either way, you win.

I'm sure you can all guess which section of the country the bulk of the soldiers fighting this senseless war was drawn from, can't you?

Since inception, this government has not arrested any of the sponsors of the boko haram terror group, yet, the same government has come out to declare victory over the terrorist group.

Now, please do pray tell, how do you defeat a terror group without identifying and crippling all its financiers and sponsors?? I'd be really grateful if anyone can help me pass this question across to the government to help squeeze out an answer for me. This is very important to me. I really wanna learn.

How do you offer amnesty to the defeated and captured members of a group declared the world deadliest when they are still fighting and killing your soldiers??

As a commander, how do you look your men in the face and tell them to march to the war front to confront these beasts knowing fully well that those you had earlier captured are currently being given the royal treatment after killing hundreds and thousands of these loyal soldiers under your command??

How do president Buhari and his security Chiefs get to sleep at night after playing "konkosa" with the lives of men and women under their command?

So much for the war on terror.

Meanwhile this is thesame government that has killed hundreds of Igbos and imprisoned thousands more, just for chanting Biafra. This is the same government that has continued to defy the orders of her own courts to keep the leader of The Indigenous People Of Biafra in prison. This is the same government that just invested billions of naira in "Operations Crocodile Smile" in the Niger Delta.

Buhari Reasoning 101: when you mention 'Biafra' in pursuit of your right to self determination or blow up pipeline to draw govt attention to the environmental terrorism you've been subjected to for years, you are considered as posing more threat to the country than a bunch of Islamist terrorists killing and maiming thousands and displacing millions.

It yet remains the 9th wonders of the world how well lettered sane adult Nigerians who witnessed all these yet believe that president Muhammadu Buhari is fighting and has even defeated the boko haram terror group.

It is indeed true that it is far easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled!
