Chukwuemeka Ezeife, the former governor of Anambra state, has called on Biafran youths to get prepared for the worst as Buhari is unrepentant and has refused to listen to their calls to release their son Nnamdi Kanu. He spoke to Ifeanyi Chijioke and Chima Onyekachi at Nike Lake Hotel Enugu.
He described Muhammadu Buhari as a man that doesn’t listen and who has sufficient hatred for the people of Biafra. He argued that his passion for killing Biafrans is burning like a flame and must be quenched with enough preparation. Though he declined to speak to journalists but took a staunch conviction to answer few questions from us. Looking as young and vibrant, with his beard well cared and his waiting car mounted pressure on us.
“Because you are pro-Biafra journalists, I will speak to you people,” he said and alighted from his vehicle. An average handsome and happy man was presented to us, in his white attire; he was more youth than us. The question we were going to ask will not be new, the killing of Biafrans has turned a normal routine in Nigeria. There has been series of massacre of peaceful and innocent Biafrans who are only expressing their fundamental right which says instead of carry guns, carry placards and peacefully register your want or displeasure.
In the process of discharging a lawful act, they were murdered like criminals in dozens and yet nobody seemed to care. To Chukwuemeka Ezeife, the killing of Biafran youths should not be left to continue, and there should be preparation to defend ourselves. Speaking on the killing spree in Biafra, he was quick to respond as all over him was a desire to stop the sustained massacre of his people. “Well, you know what I have to say, I have said so in the press, I have condemned that. Individuals who were assembled for memorial service, there is no reason any armed police should go there at all not to talk about the army.
There was no basis for army going there in the first place” he noted and continued “Another one came up, blasphemy, Bridget was killed in Kano. In Niger state some people were killed and a Christians who was not fasting, they went to kill him but did not succeed. These things have a basis; there is a psychosis of superiority on the side of Fulanis people.
There is also the one that looks like Islamization, and it started with packing Boko Haram to Ekwulobia, in -spite of all the efforts we made, they were not removed immediately, and they were removed after about five months. The country is a failure, I have been writing, commenting, thinking that by doing so he would change but he doesn't appear to have any conscience, he has not changed.
You are appointing people, and you swore an oath to implement the constitution, and that constitution includes federal character, you started to appoint people from one to forty without one from the southeast. I am no longer talking too much because I have talked much.
He doesn’t understand what we are saying, he is unrepentant without conscience, but we have got and plan how to survive no matter what happens, God will help us, but we have to help ourselves by planning to survive no matter what happens” Recall that Biafran youths have been lawfully and peacefully protesting on the streets in demand for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu and restoration of Biafra.
Buhari opted to kill than engage the youths or listen to them, an act termed the second genocide on Biafra. When posed with the question ‘won’t the youths take desperate measures that might result in another civil war as Muhammed Buhari is unrepentant and would not listen to the leaders that demanded for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. This time, he raised his voice and opened his eyes significantly, with a warning gesture he scoldingly tackled us. “Let me say one thing very clear to you now and listen to me. Let us not do any self-defense for now!
The Avengers, hahaha hahaha, they are not like us, they have the better equipment they had money, and they are organised very well. So if we just come out now, this man is looking for a way to kill us, and you come out with a machete. You carried a bible to a memorial service, and he brought a gun to kill you, what if you now bring a machete, he will slaughter all of you.
I don’t want our young men slaughtered anymore, and we must adjust, and when we are ready we go and fight and win, not to just go and lose life and come back and cry” he said. Niger Delta Avengers has declared support for Biafra and demanded the release of Nnamdi Kanu as the step for a truce, same demand Biafra protesters are clamouring for.
IPOB has also declared support for Avengers, who are freedom fighters than militants and whether Biafran youths will adjust with militants-freedom fighters that may likely stir another civil war remains unknown.
