Nigerian Television Authority celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2017 (1977 --- 2017). A man or a woman of that age is a matured person, and if he/she refuses to learn at that age may remain a fool forever. NTA, as it is simply called, is one of one of the pioneer television stations in Africa. According to them, they are the biggest network in Africa. By right such a media house is supposed to be reliable. Unfortunately, the reverse is the case. They feed the masses with wrong information; say what the government asks them to say and not the actual fact they are supposed to give to the public.

This is the 21st century; NTA is still battling to change from analogue to digital broadcasting, which tells you how backward they are. “Information,” they say is power, but can be powerless and dangerous when it is fake. Due to the level of corruption in Nigeria, they don't practice investigative journalism where you will get facts and figures. In Nigeria, journalists are paid to publish lies which was why the leader of the Indigenous peoples of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, always referred to them as “brown envelope” journalists, “Lagos Ibadan expressway gutter media”. Nigerian media is monitored by Nigerian broadcasting cooperation; any news that will expose the evils done by Nigerian government will not be aired. Any TV station or newspaper outfit that is speaking the truth will become an enemy of the government, and NBC will call you names and shut you down by way of ceasing your license.

A man called Dele Giwa was killed because of speaking the truth. He was the editor of a Nigerian magazine called “Newswatch”. He wanted to expose the evils done by the then government, and he was assassinated, through a mail bomb explosion. The sad event took place on 19th October 1986. He saw Glory Okon, in London, a drug dealer for Babangida, they knew that he will publish the truth in his magazine they killed him. According to reliable information, " Dele Giwa our beloved son was assassinated because he was about to expose Mariam Babangida dealings with glory okon “.

You can only get facts about Nigerian government through foreign media. Nigerian government lies even when the evidence is clear. They influence the media to report in their favour. A good example is the killing of unarmed IPOB members by Nigerian army, Nigerian government denied it through their media, but amnesty international after their investigation found out that they killed up to 150 people. At times Nigeria media use fake figures, pictures, and videos to deceive the masses e. g. during 18th November Anambra governorship election in 2017 when it was obvious that there was a low turnout of voters, they went ahead and reported a heavy turnout of voters, used pictures of 2015 and 2011 election to deceive people.

Thank God for social media and Radio Biafra where you can get the truth. Radio Biafra always says it the way it is. Radio Biafra tells Nigerians the truth they cannot get from Nigerian media. NTA is now campaigning against hate speech because of the truth said in radio Biafra; they are promoting Nigeria’s unity where tribalism is the order of the day, what a deceit.
