The Nigerian government has not only turned into a
chicken which abandoned the knife that slaughtered it to fight the ladle in the
pot of soup but has once again turned into a somnolent woman who abandoned the
pestle crushing the yams in the mutter to go after a powerless fowl that was
going round the mutter in search of its daily bread.
Of course, the purportedly constitutional protection of
human dignity requires us to acknowledge the value and worth of all individuals
as members of our society. No wonder the legendary Fela A. Kuti once portrayed
human rights idea in his 1989 ‘Beast of No Nation’ song as “human rights na my
property, so therefore you can’t dash me my property” meaning that human rights
are inherent rights that belong to the people and cannot be handed down to them
by anyone but rather to be freely enjoyed.
However, the reverse is presently the case in Nigeria.
Thus, it is no longer news that the Nigerian combined force in Anambra State
invaded the house of Barr Ifeanyi Ejiofor the popular Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s
lawyer, shooting sporadically in the premises; killing both animals and human
beings, burnt down his house and the houses of the neighbourhood not to talk of
the total destruction of valuable properties therein. What a calamity of much
magnitude the innocent and defenceless citizens were willy-nilly subjected to!
It was few weeks ago that the same Nigerian combined force in Ebonyi State
violently attacked this author (Barrister Cyril N. Orogwu) with live bullets
including his pregnant wife (Akunna Precious Orogwu) who later lost her three
months pregnancy while inside SARS detention. An attack that almost cost this
author’s life. His car was destroyed with live bullets as well as raided by the
force men who confiscated his wig and gown and so many other valuable
properties.
Rather than directing its powers to the containment of
continuous killings, rape and assaults by Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram,
indiscriminate raids, arrest, detention without trial, torture, extrajudicial
killings, extrajudicial executions, arbitrary executions, etc, the government
resorted to using a double edge sword to attack Biafra activists, slay armless,
innocent, nay non-violent agitators for state of Biafra.
It is firmly submitted that the satanic, cruel and
murderous display of the combined force of Nigeria have catastrophically
traumatized and dehumanized the human race in Nigeria and must be resisted.
Otherwise, the oppressed will get to the point when they will stand it no
longer. Since a just legal order is made a hollow shell in Nigeria.
Democracy is not the whims and caprices of the leaders
against the led as misconceived by the self-aggrandized and narcissistic office
holders in Nigeria. It does not confer on office holders infinite, absolute and
autocratic powers contrary to the clear provision of the paraded Constitution
of Nigeria. Such autocratic, absolute and infinite powers have fester upon the
purportedly paraded nascent democracy in the land.
Therefore, the shameful and animalistic act of the
combined force of Nigeria in Oraifite, Anambra State, is totally outside the
pure view of rule of law and tantamount to societal aberration as well as
degraded the Nigeria’s condemnable status once again as a democratic and free
society where rule of law thrives
