The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were live and
direct in Obinze in Imo State to pay their last tribute to Late Mrs Agnes
Nwaneri.
Mrs Agnes Nwaneri was among the women Leaders that led a
revolution against corrupt warrant Chiefs that were extorting the people with
high taxes forcefully. She was against the colonial dictatorial Government of
British Colonialists in 1929.
Today the Indigenous People of Biafra deemed it right to
pay their tribute to a woman who could be referred to as Mother of the
oppressed and Mother of Freedom. IPOB being a force that is fighting for Biafra
restoration, have drawn so much inspiration from her lifestyle while she lived.
At the funeral, they pleaded with the massive crowd to please emulate the good
works of Mama Agnes.
This icon, together with other fearless women from Izon,
Ibibio, Oron, Efik and various ethnicities in the then Eastern Region of
Nigeria later known as Biafra pushed hard until they achieved victory. The Tax
was stopped and so many power drunk warrant Chiefs were relieved of their
duties.
The former Imo State women Leader, made a strong
statement while evangelizing. She asked the women to move in to the struggle.
She sang various BIAFRA Freedom songs while they matched round the venue of the
event centre.
Mrs Ngozichukwu Ada-Dav from States Media Lagos, also
spoke to the teaming crowd, in her speech she wondered what women were doing at
the back stage in this very critical time. She appealed to women to step up and
make their voices loud.
Among those present at the funeral were representatives
of various states Media under IPOB, which comprises:
Mrs Ngozichukwu Ada-Dav For Lagos State Media.
Mazi Tony Asomba for Anambra State Media.
Mazi Elvis Chinedu for Edo State Media.
