The seven Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) women that were among those
arrested and detained for almost one week by the Nigeria police in Owerri, Imo
state capital on 17th August, 2018 narrated their ugly experiences in the
dungeon of the Nigeria police custody.
They did this on a special welcome meeting organised for them by the
leadership of IPOB in Ebonyi state on Thursday 30, August 2018 to hear their
own side of the story.
Those seven women and others who participated on the peaceful protest at
Owerri by the IPOB women in Biafra land, could not hide feelings as they
narrated their pathetic heart touching ordeal, within the few days they were
kept in the prison custody at the state CID Owerri, Imo state.
Recall that about one hundred and thirty of IPOB women who took to the
street of Owerri on Friday 17, August 2018 on a peaceful protest, demanding for
the way about of the IPOB supreme leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu whom after the
Nigeria army invaded his father's palace at Afaraukwu Ibeku in Umuahia Abia
state, on 14th September, 2017 got missing, were arrested, tortured, and
detained for almost one week by the Nigeria police Imo state.
Mrs Ifeanyi Florence Chioma who abandoned her three months baby to the
protest which were among the arrested women explained that, water was not given
to them to take their bath not to talk of feeding them for the whole days they
were kept in the dark scary room, she laments that her baby was forced out of
breast feeding having stayed longer than she ought to take it.
They equally revealed how they were ridiculed by the police officers,
calling them miscreants who do not have any job to do, that was why they
motivated them to come from far and near to protest at Owerri.
They said that food and under wears brought for them by the members of
IPOB were rejected and denied of them, complained that they were lumped 45 each
in a mini prison room.
They appreciated the leadership of IPOB and her indefatigable legal team
led by Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Amarachi Ibeh Gift who stood by them making sure
that they regain their freedom.
Still on the meeting, the women planned on the best strategies to adopt
in combing the entire state on evangelism, to ensure total compliance to
the 'Sit At Home' and 'General Strike' in the whole of Biafra land, come 14th
September 2018 which was set aside by IPOB led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to remember
those killed by the Nigeria army during operation Python dance I & II and
call for barricade of operation Python dance iii.
The state coordinator Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya and his executives attended
the special seating with the victimized women to cheer them up.
The secretary to the Ebonyi state IPOB Mazi Eke Chukwuma and the chief
protocol officer Mazi Ezeta Ozoemena, advised the women to let love thrive
among them and urged them to work with one accord.
According to Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya, he urged the women to remain resolute
and focused in the struggle to restore Biafra despite the challenges that maybe
encountered, affirming that Biafra total freedom is at hand.
