The Bomb blast that went off in Enugu State in early hours of Saturday, during the Local government Election, was spearheaded by Nigerian Police to justify federal government 'terrorist tag' unduly labeled on Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB call for Biafra referendum, has been on the front pages of local and international media.
The leadership has imposed its members to tour the part of civil disobedience than forceful confrontation or arm struggle with Nigerian Force.
In a bid to achieve this civil disobedience, Election boycott has been in use.
The leader of the embattled group, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu before his sudden disappearance after military inversion to his father's house, where he welcomes members and supporters, instructed his loyalists to boycott Anambra election and subsequent elections across South Eastern part of Nigeria.
Nnamdi Kanu's disappearance issued after Nigerian Military led an internal military exercise to his hometown, Afara-Ukwu Ibeku, Abia State tagged 'operation Python Dance ll' on 14th September 2017. According to Nigeria Defence Minister General Mansur Dan Ali Rtd on a TV program called 'Question Time' admitted sending soldiers to Nnamdi Kanu’s house in Umuahia.
Since the inversion, Nigeria military branded IPOB 'terrorist organization', claimed they were attacked by some IPOB Members with a broken bottle, stick, and stone. “From the foregoing, the Armed Forces of Nigeria wishes to confirm to the general public that IPOB from all intent, plan, and purpose as analyzed, is a militant terrorist organization,” Director, Defence Information, Major-General John Enenche said in a statement.
But the Military Chief of Staff withdrew the statement that IPOB is a terrorist organization, “You have to get it very clear. First of all, what the Defence Headquarters did was to make a pronouncement. It wasn’t a declaration per se. But this has given room for the right step to be taken. I think the government is doing the right thing. Said Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai in Abakaliki during 'Operation Python Dance ll' launch.
Beyond the expectations of observers around the world, the Federal government of Nigeria secured court injunction same day and went ahead to declare IPOB terrorist group. In a five-page document was reportedly printed and published by the Federal Government Printer in Lagos on September 20, 2017. The document was signed by the AGF.
It is titled, ‘Terrorism (Prevention) (Proscription Order) Notice, 2017’ and contained in Volume 104 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Official Gazette.
Reads: "NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that by the Order of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/871/2017, dated September 20, 2017 as per the schedule to this Notice, the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra are declared to be terrorism and illegal in any part of Nigeria, especially in the South-East and South-South regions of Nigeria as proscribed, pursuant to Section 2 of the Terrorism (Prevention)Act, 2011 (as amended).
Some many international Bodies has rejected the call by FG to accept IPOB as 'terrorist organization' including United Nations, British government, United States Government, and other well-known Bodies.
Enugu Bomb Blast
The bomb blast which went off at Ogbette West Ward 6 on Brodrick Street in Coal Camp area of Enugu State at 8:04 A.M left many surprised on how Nigerian Police could deny its involvement.
According to Family Writers observers who were at the scene of the Local Government Election revealed that the aforementioned Bomb Blast appears as staged managed attempt to justify the call by FG to pacify IPOB as a terrorist organization.
Reports gathered said that before the start of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC voters accreditation, security was fully present and everything was going on smoothly as they to charge of the environ
Immediately the security personnel left the scene, according to an eyewitness, a bomb went off. Everyone present was surprised as majority scamper for safety.
