Ekwueme and Kanu: transference of leadership |
By Kelechi Okorie
For Biafra Choice Writers
May 30 was the second time Indigenous People of
Biafra (IPOB), under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu, have observed Sit-At-Home
exercise to prove to enemies good that Biafrans are resolute about exiting
Nigeria.
The first was held on September 23, 2016, which was
against the continued illegal detention of Nnamdi Kanu, Director of Radio
Biafra and Biafra Television. The exercise recorded a huge success unlike any
other held before it.
The second was the just concluded one, last May 30,
which coincided with 50 years anniversary of the declaration of Biafra
Independence, declared in 1967 by General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu. In the
war that ensued, which devil’s-incarnate brought on Biafra, nothing less than
4million innocent Biafrans were murdered – especially children, women and the
aged.
Gowon was ably supported by Obafemi Awolowo who
ensured there was food blockade and medical restrictions as was instructed by
British government under Harold Wilson.
Unfortunately for Biafrans, there were saboteurs from
within who worked against Biafra. Some took funds given to them to go abroad
and purchase arms and ammunition and bolted away to foreign countries,
abandoning their people to die in misery. Perhaps, history never grows old; but
keeps repeating itself as the current effort for Biafra restoration seems to
prove.
Ralph Uwazuruike, the expelled leader of Movement
for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), who has now
formed a ragtag Biafra Independence Movement (BIM), has proven to be the modern
day saboteur. Uwazuruike became a career freedom fighter, collecting bribes
from Nigerian government and using same to acquire hotels and hostels.
Apart from being a career freedom fighter, he is
among many that have chosen to challenge Kanu’s leadership of the Biafran
leadership – especially Igbo-Biafran leadership. Others include governors of
Igbo-Biafra States, and some elements in political parties and many
Igbo-centric organizations.
The last Sit-at-Home has however, conclusive put the
issue of leadership at rest. With it, Biafrans have shown their preference of
Kanu over all others. Without doubt, it marks the fulfillment of ancient prediction
of the resurgence of the black man coming from the “trigger of Africa”. Nostradamus, the 16th century famed Jewish-French
doctor predicted over 400 years back, that “A Powerful Prince will arise in the
world at the Trigger of the Gun.
He the prince will be the envy of other princes.
They (the other princes) will try to subdue his rise but all will be a failure.
A tenacious courageous Nnamdi Kanu has been upholding the Biafra struggle with
truth and honesty. And now that he is revealed, welcome Nnamdi Kanu.
