An interview granted to our news men led by Nwada Ugochinyere Onyechere and Mazi Ikenna Ozulumba Mbaegbu by Mr Ebenyi Sunday, an accountant and some other Biafrans on the 5th of May, 2017 has revealed people’s attitude towards other groups who claim to have been fighting for the restoration of Biafra but use it as an avenue to extort people of their hard earned money.

Listen to Ebenyi Sunday airs his own view on this:

Ozulumba (the Interviewer): Sir we are from UMUCHIUKWU writers of the Biafra Telegraph and we are here to interview you on the issues relating to Biafra agitation, could you please tell us your name?

Mr Ebenyi: Well, I am Mr Ebenyi Sunday, from Mgbo, in Ebonyi State in Biafra land

Ozulumba:  what is your occupation, sir?

Mr Ebenyi:  I am an accountant by profession but because of the situation of this contraption called Nigeria am not in the level I am supposed to be and that’s the major reason we are actually fighting for the restoration of Biafra because if we don’t get Biafra now, there will be no hope for a common man, especially those of us that are educated, whose talents are not valued.

Ozulumba:  Sir, because of security reasons I understand that you do not want to give the full details of where you work (due to the fact that freedom of speech is a crime in Nigeria), all the same thank you sir for your time. But I would also like to commence to asking you certain questions concerning the issue of bail conditions of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, what is your take on the stringent conditions attached to his bail? I mean how do you view it?

Mr EBenyi:  Well, at first when I heard it, I didn’t actually believe that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu would accept to bring out such huge amount of money mentioned in the condition. At least that’s how I viewed it at first, but then later, I started seeing it from another dimension that perhaps due to the pressure the international communities are mounting on the zoo government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally, they now had to create a political statement so that people will not start saying they released Kanu without a penalty or any form of punishment, as this will destroy the Zoo prestige and make the zoo government a laughing stock. So as for me, I don’t think he actually paid that money because it didn’t take time for the bail conditions to be fulfilled and as we all know, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has committed no crime. He only asked for the freedom of his own people.

Ozulumba: But Mazi Nnamdi Kanu accepted those conditions anyway, do you think by accepting those conditions, he did the right thing?

Mr Ebenyi:  the only condition I don’t like him accepting is the area where they said that he would not be in a gathering exceeding ten persons, though nobody knows what is in his mind, but if he actually does it, not just accepting it but doing it, it then means that he has denied IPOB. But I know he would not do that because Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a wise and a great man. But I later viewed it from another angle as well; perhaps He may have accepted those conditions due to his ill health so that he would remain alive to continue with the struggle for the restoration of Biafra because if he had died in the prison, that would have been the end of the agitation and the “Zoo government” would have won the battle.

Ozulumba:  Sir, in your explanation, you said Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a wise and a great man, what makes you to think so? How do you view his leadership?

Mr Ebenyi:  What am trying to say is that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has done great things. Now he has made IPOB to become a legal society. Before now, MASSOB and other Pro Biafran groups were not legal, but because of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu the Struggle for the restoration of Biafra is now legal! This was pronounced by Justice Binta Nyako of the zoo Federal High Court herself. According to her, during her ruling in one of the court sessions, she had declared IPOB a legal society; therefore nobody should be disturbing them during their rallies and evangelization. She ruled it herself! That means it is legal now and since that ruling was made, the zoo forces have now reduced hand in clamping down on Biafrans. So, as IPOB is legal, that means the struggle to restore Biafra is equally legal (Laughs)!

Ozulumba:  Ok, I understand your stand now, but sir, are you an IPOB member?

Mr Ebenyi: Hmm, in mind, yes! That is, I am a full IPOB member in mind. The problem is that the area where I reside now, I have not known where to register to become a full fledged member. But I have been asking people to know where they hold their meetings so that I will register. I really want to identify with an IPOB family in my area but no clue yet where they are staying. That is the only reason I have not registered as a “FINANCIAL MEMBER.” But right now, I am an IPOB member in mind.

Ozulumba:  hum, you said you want to register as a financial member, could you please clarify on that?

Mr Ebenyi:  what I mean by that is to be among those that contribute money towards the struggle to restore Biafra. When I listen to Radio Biafra I normally hear where they call out the names of the zones that have not paid their monthly dues. Suffice it to say I want be among those that contribute money as my own quota towards the struggle. That is to be giving my support in terms of monetary aspect.

Ozulumba: sir, some other thing I would like to ask you concerning those people that call themselves MASSOB, BIM and the rest of the other Pro Biafran groups who claim to have been fighting for the restoration of Biafra, and you find out that most of them, especially those that call themselves MASSOB, they have been involved in all manner of dubious activities, what is your take on this? How exactly do you perceive or see those groups and the people that are running them?

Mr Ebenyi: Well, for me as an individual I don’t even know that they are in existence, because I can see them doing nothing, no action because action is what we need now, not saying we are this or we are that! I have not seen any action they carried out since they started their own agitation to restore Biafra, rather, their action is to enrich their own pockets. So for me, what am advising them is for them to stop those dubious activities and come and join IPOB, under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in the fight to restore Biafra. This is because IPOB is the only group, through their actions we have come to know that is really working towards the restoration of Biafra now. None of the IPOB members has been reported ever extorting money from people just like every other pro Biafran group. So what am saying is that I am just hearing their names but I have not seen the good thing they have done or achieved since they started their own freedom fighting.

Ozulumba: once again, thank you sir for your time.
