Biafrans are always beautiful, brilliant and colorful. Come September 23, 2016, they will once again step out in 88 countries of the world to show that to the world.

They would be doing that as Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), when they mass out into the streets of world important cities to demand the release of their leader. Nnamdi Kanu, the charismatic Biafran leader was kidnapped last October 14, 2015, by Nigerian government’s number one Gestapo, State security Service (SSS).

Apart from the leadership of IPOB, Kanu is also the Director of Radio Biafra and Biafra Television. Before his kidnap and detention, he had been going around countries of world seeking out and organizing Biafrans for determined stance and action to free themselves from Nigeria – a contraption formed by the British government in 1914 to foster its new-colonialism drive.

Biafrans will also be demanding a referendum to be conducted by United Nations Organisation (UNO) and other reputable world bodies for the independence of Biafra. The people are doing this, especially aware that Nigeria has expired as a country since two years ago, 2014. The colourful campaigns will be held before UNO offices; Nigerian Embassies; European Union (EU) offices; as well as British Embassies and High Commissions.
Of all indigenous peoples groups in Africa, if not in the whole world, Biafrans have a great number of its citizens scattered in almost all the countries of the world. The people have always wanted to be independent of external subjugation even before colonialism.

This was a major reason why, during the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern protectorates to create the monstrosity in 1914, Britain gave a timeline of 100 within which any dissatisfied indigenous group may want opt out of the contraption. The oppressive Fulani people of the North, who the British handed over the mantle of leadership to, thought 100 years would never come. But unfortunately for them, 100 years have come and gone, as the contraption expired in 2014.

But the Fulani have refused to let go of the people, and in other to stop the people’s move for freedom, they have engaged in repressive acts to quell agitation. Buhari, the new face of Fulani irredentist have continued with kidnapping, murder, and imprisonment of the people at every opportunity.

But Biafrans’ zeal for freedom has in no way ben dampened by any of these. They have continued with their agitations and are now making plans to show just that to the world come September 23.
