Organisation of Emerging African States (OEAS), has
stepped out once again to advocate for solution to the Biafra independence
project by calling on all the peoples that constitute Biafra to come together
and forge a Biafra United Front to deal with the issue.
OEAS is a group of intellectuals that believes
strongly that Africa will be better off if its colonial-era borders are
shattered as an artificial construct of the 20th century. It believes strongly
also that just as the USSR dissolved, so should the status-quo in Africa which
was propped up and is sustained by economic and geopolitical interests inimical
to the aspiration of Africans be dissolved.
In a recent statement released to the media, the
group stated that Biafra United Front had become necessary as its call for a
snappy referendum for March 3 was ignored by the Nigerian government. "On
the issue of referendum, the Nigerian government has dismissed the idea and has
related that inflexible position with the European Union’s representatives. Therefore,
the OEAS calls for the creation and implementation of a Biafra United Front to
use all necessary means to achieve these goals” it wrote.
It said it had offered its “good offices to put out
a call for the creation of a united front, and organizing meeting of all groups
in greater Biafraland and environs including the Annang, Effik, Kalabari,
Ibibio, Idoma, Igala, Igbo, Ijaw, Itshekiri, Ogoni and Urhobo communities”.

OEAS requested all groups involved to put aside
their internal differences, personality issues, and regional differences, to
pursue the most important issue of Biafra freedom. It pledged to convene an All-Biafran
Conference (ABC 2016) within the shortest time possible at a location it would provide.
“Failure to unite in the face of the Nigerian
oppressor that slaughters, maims, and imprisons innocent victims, aids the
enemy by supporting the lie and calumny of tribalism" it warned, which
would spell doom for the people.
OEAS equally believed that working with the
Ambazonia people in Southern Cameroon, as well, would be a good decision to
make in the circumstance . “Yes’ it finally declared ‘there needs to be united
front Biafra and I would say this is the time for the collaboration to occur as
well with Ambazonia in tandem both sides coming to together scheduling meeting
as soon as possible. Ideally maybe March 3-4, 2016 to mobilize discuss
strategies tactics for obtaining mutual goals concerning the oppressive
governments of Nigeria and Cameroon.
