A fatal motor accident that occurred at Ezzamgbo along Enugu Abakaliki
express way, claimed the lives of Three persons at the spot who were confirmed
burnt dead and many seriously injured.
The fatal accident occurred around the hour of 6pm in the evening,
Friday November 2, 2018.
One of the 18 seaters bus that was fully loaded with passengers; heading
to Enugu collided with the same 18 seaters bus coming from Enugu, at the single
lane narrowed express road at Ezzamgbo, behind the Federal girls college
Ezzamgbo and the general hospital Ezzamgbo.
An eye witness to the incident told the IPOB reporter, Ogeh Friday Igiri
who visited the scene that the commuter Toyota HiAce bus heading to Enugu, with
high speed collided with its counterpart heading to Abakaliki from Enugu,
immediately it tumbled to the right-hand side of the road and burst to
uncontrollable flame, according to him, "efforts made to quench the fire
proved abortive.
The bus heading to Enugu that were carrying the three passengers burnt
beyond recognition was bearing a sticker inscribed MADONNA UNIVERSITY, it was
not clear if the bus were carrying the above-mentioned university as the
information has not being uncovered as at the time of filing in this report.
The Nigeria police who, Highway patrol who rushed to the scene shortly
after it occurred took the unverified numbers who seriously injured to the
hospital at Abakaliki the capital city of Ebonyi state.
Parents and guardians especially those whose wards left for travel who
would apply Enugu Abakaliki express road should as a matter of urgency contact
the Nigeria police in Enugu state.
