The All Progressive Congress, APC primary election held on Thursday 4th
October, 2018 at Darling Hotel Onueke ended in bloodbath as three persons were
shot dead by the political thugs.
During the cacophonic fracas, many people sustained various degrees of
injuries, while total of six vehicles were equally set ablaze and two other
vehicles damaged beyond repair by the same political thugs.
The election primaries which was disrupted as a result of the incident
took place at Darling Hotel Onueke in Ezza south LGA Ebonyi central senatorial
district near the popular Ezza Eke Imoha.
According to an APC delegate to the primary elections who narrated
the controversial story shortly after the incident took place on the condition
of anonymity said that, the arena for the primary election at Onueke in Ezza
south changed immediately Comrade Chinedu Oga, the formal Ebonyi state
president of youth assembly also the federal house of Representative
constituency candidate of Ikwo Ezza south Ebonyi central who defected
from PDP to the ruling party APC earlier 2018 and his entourage entered the
venue, recalling that the All Progress Congress APC in Ebonyi state are
accusing him and Senator Julius Ali Ucha the senatorial party flag bearer of
working with the PDP in the state. According to him, "People were
set for the election to select the candidate of their choice to commence when
Chinedu Oga came in with his entourage and suddenly began to share #25,000 to
each group standing on queue, telling them whom to vote for in each of the
categories and as he was doing that, people started dragging over the money,
then fight broke out before we knew what was happening they began to shot
sporadically, then people started running helter-skelter for their lives, I saw
three persons that was short dead and many wounded, as they set vehicles on
fire and I had to run for my dear life".
The primary elections were for the APC in Ebonyi Central senatorial
district of Ebonyi state to select who will be the party flag bearers on the categories
of the state and federal House of Representatives, also to choose the candidate
to be the senatorial party flag bearer during the 2019 general elections in the
expired contraption called Nigeria.
The three deceased bodies of the victims were deposited in the mortuary
at Onueke general hospital by the Nigeria police, among the dead victims is a
lady between the age of 35 and 37 and two other young men.
Information from the participants who spoke equally on the condition of
anonymity revealed that, "the attack was planned by the inner enemies of
our party planted by the ruling party PDP in Ebonyi state, to paint our image
black not just in the state but across the nation", he further stated that
even the men of the Nigeria police force who were present during the Hagahugu
could not do anything to calm the situation as they were equally on the run
alongside the bloody civilians and the party delegates.
One of the dead victims was identified as Late Aleke Ifeanyi from
Amezekwe in Ezza south LGA Ebonyi state nevertheless, efforts made to reach
other deceased family member of the incident proved abortive as at the time of
this report because the information to pave way for it has not been obtained.
On the other hand, a hardcore IPOB member in Onueke, Mazi Chidi
condemned the act saying "it is ridiculous at the same time a slap on the
face of Ezza nation for such atrocity to happen in our land".
He went further to urge all well-meaning citizens of Ezza and the entire
Ebonyians wherever they are to support IPOB led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on the
agitation for Biafra restoration and total freedom from the contraption known
as Nigeria, saying that elections in Nigeria is 'do or die', and no efforts
made to address it will ever be productive because Nigeria has expired from its
creation date.
