Biafra: Civil Disobedience, The Only Solution To The Delusion (Nigeria)

When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes a duty to its victim. Civil disobedience is an unavoidable exercise that will resist the incessant and negligence of the political elites in Biafra land and in Nigeria. Civil disobedience is the active, professed refusal to obey certain laws, demands, and commands of a government, or of an occupying international power. Civil disobedience is sometimes defined as having to be nonviolent to be called civil disobedience. Civil disobedience is sometimes, therefore, equated with nonviolent resistance. The same is applicable and deemed fitting to the forthcoming gubernatorial exercise for Anambra State. The proposed boycott of elections in Biafra land is no way related to war, but rather a way to make known our grief, malaise and anguish the world.

People misconstrue the word civil disobedience to become a call for war. Biafrans has been morally imperiled in diverse conditions. The only means to regain justice is by civil disobedience. In reference to the article written by Thoreau's 1848 titled "Civil Obedience", his forensic etiquettes ascertained that civil disobedience is legal. Records have it that civil disobedience has been on toll for years. The act of boycotting the election in Biafra land is also one of the case studies of civil disobedience, and it isn't anywhere close to violence. The leader of Indigenous People of Biafra Mazi Nnamdi Kanu had made it known that the election boycott is not a call for war, on the contrary, the Nigerian government wants to contradict issues by connoting it to call for war. 

Civil disobedience is one of the many ways people have rebelled against what they deem to be unfair laws. It has been used in many nonviolent resistance movements right in India (Gandhi's campaigns for independence from the British Empire), in Czechoslovakia's Velvet Revolution, in early stages of Bangladesh independence movement against Pakistani repression and in East Germany to oust their communist governments. In South Africa in the fight against apartheid, in the American Civil Rights Movement, in the Singing Revolution to bring independence to the Baltic countries from the Soviet Union, recently with the 2003 Rose Revolution in Georgia and the 2004 Orange Revolution in Ukraine, among other various movements worldwide.

Following the Peterloo massacre of 1819, poet, Percy Shelley wrote the political poem The Mask of Anarchy later that year, that begins with the images of what he thought to be the unjust forms of authority of his time and then imagines the stirrings of a new form of social action. According to Ashton Nichols, it is perhaps the first modern statement of the principle of nonviolent protest. 

Standing by these terms, Biafrans has no other choice because Protests on the streets only amounts to massive killings of innocent people and the world had remained quiet about it. We have set our resolves, "there will be no election in Biafra land henceforth". You cannot think of election whereas the carcass of your people stints right before you. You killed us, in other words, who will vote your ass into power? 

On matters arising, I have been asked frequently, why we should engage ourselves in any form of civil obedience just to have a nation of our own. Many seem it's not fit to exit from Nigeria, to have peace. Perhaps there's every tendency of leaving Nigeria because her foundation is evil. Civil obedience is the only means for which Biafrans establish their anger and let known their rivalries.  Biafra land is made of the predominantly Christian population whose way of life is different from their Northern Counterpart that is predominantly Muslims. These two groups of people existed on their own without the other part for thousands of years before the coming of the white men. There were amalgamated in 1914 by the then Governor of the Colonized Niger Area Lord Frederick Lugard for the purpose of self-aggrandizement, the amalgamation of the North and the South of the Niger-Area came into force and it was Flora Shaw that gave it the name "Nigeria" coined from the word – NIGER Plus AREA.

This act of nepotism; a crime against humanity. Joining these two was actually against their wish. With such dirty foundation, no right thinking human will be more aggressive towards the generated force of IPOB led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unless such person is eluded with a mental disorder. Nigerian politicians through undue influence gradually planted the seed of nepotism, hatred, and ethnic division among the worst of all, corruption that has continued to cripple Nigeria to date and Biafrans has been the victims. This same, attributed to the killing of Biafrans, with the emanation of the genocidal war against Biafrans in order to appeal to the ego of the proud Biafrans, the war was declared no victor and no vanquished, but the actions that followed proved otherwise. Biafrans till date lost all their properties all over Nigeria, even in their homelands and they were subjected to the undue treatment of receiving Twenty pounds in exchange for any amount you must have saved in the bank before the war.

IPOB led by Mazi Kanu has proved to be serious minded people who have come to liberate their people from this delusion called Nigeria. They seem to be confused because they are ignorant of the fact that Biafra is a nation of God, We took to the street to protest, we were massacred like chickens,  drained and forced to eat our flesh. Today, we objected to the election mantra that has been the major tool used against us; unfortunately, they have intentionally translated it to be a call to war. This perception is only but a mere artwork of illiteracy. 

Civil obedience is the only way to get our unresolved prestigious qualification back, We've only two choices, separate us from Nigeria via referendum or there will be no more elections in the whole of Biafra Land.
